ALL ABOUT OUR LACTIC ACID

Natural AHA from sugar beet, offering numerous benefits for the skin

Lactic Acid is a type of alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) used in skincare for its numerous benefits. While there are various forms of Lactic Acid, the one used in our products is derived through a traditional fermentation process.

What is fermentation?

Fermentation is an old technique where microorganisms, such as bacteria and yeasts, act on food without the addition of oxygen. This method has been used historically to preserve food and enhance its health benefits. Through fermentation, harmful substances are transformed into beneficial components and new nutrients are created. A classic example is sourdough bread, where slow fermentation enhances both the flavour and nutritional value.

Lactic Acid from sugar beet and its effects on the skin

Our Lactic Acid is produced by fermenting Sugar Beet and is incorporated into our products to offer several skin benefits:

Moisture Retention: Lactic Acid acts as a highly effective humectant, helping the skin maintain its natural moisture levels and counteracting dehydration. It also contributes to a radiant glow.

Antioxidant Effect: It enhances the efficacy of the antioxidants in our products, aiding in the protection of the skin from harmful free radicals.

Evening Out Skin Tone: Lactic Acid helps brighten hyperpigmentation by affecting melanin production in the skin.

Gentle Exfoliation: Our fermented Lactic Acid provides a mild exfoliation that is less harsh than traditional acids. It works on the skin's surface while penetrating deeper to dissolve hyperpigmentation.

Support for Skin Microflora: Lactic Acid nurtures beneficial bacteria on the skin, contributing to a balanced complexion and a stronger skin barrier.

We recommend using sunscreen when exposed to the sun to prevent sun damage.
